Thus, the Spice Route was the first major trade route with spices as valuable as silver and gold.
This wondrous passage began with arduous overland routes and grew into maritime passes, threading its way through Arabia, North Africa, Egypt, The Venetian Republic, Portugal, Spain, to Western Europe. The Spice Route served as the stimuli and spark for world trade relations, wars and the birthplace of fantastic tales of voyage, crusade, myth and legend. Spice and essentially The Spice Route answered the call for a remedy to the bore and monotony of medieval life and quelled what was thought an insatiable desire for all things rich, both in taste and culture.
And so, just as The Spice Route enriched the world and brought prosperity to those who traded, Spice Carnival brings to you the riches and wonder of Carnival 2010!
